For our last day in Paris I suggested a visit to Versailles. When we got there we found that, unlike most of the other places we had been, our Paris pass did not allow us to skip to the head of the queue. So we had to join the huge snaking queue in the forecourt. Fortunately we had also had to pay to travel an extra zone on our transport ticket so this was enough incentive to make Mark decide we should stay. After a 45 minute wait we were in. Personally, I thought the wait was worth it to see the opulence of the rooms and the fantastic gardens. While the English monarchy are rather good at treating themselves to some lavish castles and palaces the French monarchy certainly took it that next step.

In the afternoon we went to the Musee Grevin ( Paris Wax Museum). The wax works were ok as far as wax works go but the definite highlight of the experience is the "hall of mirrors". This sound and light show was originally created for the 1900 world fair (same as the Eiffel tower, only different year - 1989 for the tower). The "special effects" were still pretty spectacular given the technology of their age.

Mark "jamming" with Elton.

Mark shopping for lunch. It takes " trios (3) baguettes s'il vous plait" to feed the hungry West Clan after a day of sightseeing.

Brioche - after so many Marie Antoinette experiences we just had to try some.
