Can't go over it, can't go around it - we will build a tunnel through it! Driving in Switzerland.

As we drove over the border into Switzerland we had to stop at a check point. Initially we got a bit excited. Yeah! Another stamp for our passports. But no, rather we had to stop to purchase a vignette for our car. In Switzerland you pay a yearly fee of 40 CHF (Swiss Francs) to travel on the roads - seems like a lot but is much cheaper than France so far.

Not long over the border we entered this amazing system of tunnels - some long, some short and some in between.

We drove as far as Luzern that day. It was a beautiful city with it's lake and amazing back drop of mountains. When we first arrived it was 30 degrees but a thunderstorm soon passed through robbing us of the beautiful sunshine. Amazingly, despite the warm weather, the peaks of the Alps in the background still had a light cover of snow.
