Valencia in all it's glory... and heat

If you didn't know already Spain is really, really hot. Like sweating like a pig while sitting down hot and that didn't change today. Although being closer to the coast in Valencia we did get some relief from the heat from the sea breeze, unlike the hot,dry winds of Madrid.

After our drive from Madrid and setting up camp we got on the local bus and headed for the central markets, we left at 1:45pm and the markets close at 2:30pm so you can imagine that we were in a bit of a rush. We got there a few minutes before it finished but a number of stalls were still open so we brought some fresh fruit and had a look around. It was like a Spanish Melbourne Markets with 900 stalls filled with every thing from fruit to pigs heads with the eye ball still in.

Bacon any one?

After that we headed to the a cathedral that claims to be in possession of the Holy Grail. We made our way to this but the cathedral charges to get in and see it (and lonely planet said you needed high powered binoculars to see it anyway). So here are some lovely pictures of the cathedral itself.

We then started to look around for some paella in restaurants for a decent price... we were at this a while to find the best value. We ended up eating at a small street restaurant watching the olympics on a different restaurant's wall.
If you didn't know paella originated from Valencia and it consists of rice and usually either chicken or seafood. I had the chicken and it wasn't that bad, it was fairly nice actually.

Over all it was a fairly nice day, wandering the marble tiled squares of Valencia and in the afternoon we went to the pool to cool off.
