Bari and the Ferry

Today we landed in Greece. Yesterday we drove from Sorrento to Bari, as this was where we boarded the ferry. After double and triple checking everything this time, we went to the port and sorted things out early so we knew what we had to do later that night (Bari is significantly bigger than Fishguard!)

We then found a parking spot and walked around trying to find a supermarket, much easier said then done. We walked around for half an hour trying to find one and then even if we did find one it would have to be open. Around midday in Europe pretty much everybody closes for a long lunch break, in Italy often until approx 3-4 o'clock.

We ended up going to Burger King (as you can imagine Luke and I were devastated). We still had an hour left before we had to get back so we walked around. Mum posted a few cards and Dad took us on one of his mystery tours (the mystery is Dad doesn't even know where we are going). We walked down the old part of town and past the castle. We saw some people doing medieval activities like archery and sword fighting which wasn't bad to watch.

We went back to the car and drove to the ferry. We loaded on board and got our seats for the night. We stayed up for awhile watching some Greek drama show on T.V. and decided to go to bed. Of course us Wests came prepared. On board we brought our sleeping bags and pillows (but not our mats, we thought this might be over the top) and reserved our place on the ground while we went for showers and brushed our teeth. I slept like the dead until about 3 or 4 am when an announcement went off. After that I didn't sleep as well.

In the morning we got up and went for breakfast and waited the next few hours until we docked. It wasn't a bad trip but it was definitely not your first class entertainment on board, not one T.V. in English.
