Barcelona and the Mediterranean

Today we visited Barcelona. Once again we caught the local bus from the campground into the centre of the city - Plaza Catalunya. We had no idea what there was to see in Barcelona but luckily Mum actually reads the travel guides. Mum said that we should walk down La Rambla because it's Barcelona's most famous street (all those who have never heard of it say I).

We walked down a street thinking it was La Rambla and we found a watch shop so we went in to see if they could fix my watch. They asked me were I'm from and I told them Australia then they looked at my watch and they said it was Chinese so they couldn't fix it. So we look at watches and every time we point at one the shop owner goes: yes, yes, Casio or, No, not Casio. I did end up getting a Casio and we walked back down the street.

We got to the end of the street and saw a whole lot of people outside a pizza place. We wondered what was going on over there so we walked over and we saw, of course, Spain playing soccer on the TV.

We walked along the back streets then came out again on to the road that we walked down on and saw a sign saying "La Rambla 200m" so we walked in that direction and we found the real Rambles. We walked up it and found we liked the streets we had walked down much more, not as many people and you can go three steps with out walking into somebody.

When we got back to the campsite we were going to go to the pool but Mum thought we should at least dip our toes in the Mediterranean sea first ( our camp ground was right on the beach). We went along to the beach and got in the water. It wasn't Tassie freezing but it was definitely not a hot bath. We swam along the beach and back (not to mention dad pointing out all the topless sun bathers along the way) and got out and had some of the best showers all trip.
