FORE!

Today Dad achieved an item off his bucket list... to play a game of golf at St Andrews. Why? Because St Andrews has the world's first golf course. We didn't get to play on the 'The Old Course', because it is always booked out months in advance and it costs about £500 for one person. So in between groups, we raced out and stood on 'The Swilcan Bridge' and Mum took a photo of us in front of the 'Old Club Rooms'.

As an alternative to play on St Andrews Links, we decided to play on the Balgove course because it was designed for kids (and for people who just suck). Balgove is a nine hole course but your green fees entitle you to play two rounds. After the first round we went into the club rooms and got drinks, their hot chocolates are AWESOME!

Once we finished our drinks we went outside for our second round only to be drenched and battered by wind and rain. Altogether it was fairly fun and enjoyable but I learnt 2 things... 1. Golf is hard and 2. Getting wet isn't fun at all.

Poppy West would have loved it!

  1. My post seemed to have worked! Going to drive you mad with comments now as you are overlapping with many of the places I was at in May. Will gradually go back and comment on other posts.

St Andrews - not a golfer but was interested to see the original course. Jake, I was surprised at the setting. Guess I was expecting a highland location, certainly not a little bit of green between the sea and the buildings of the township.

    1. Hi Greta,
I am new at using this to make comments as well so hope it works. St Andrews was a lovely place and I am glad we got at least one day with sunshine to appreciate it at its best.
