Driving in the UK

Where does one start - what an experience! The TomTom has been a god send but we hope it has not cost a speeding ticket or two. It may have also taken us down some interesting roads that you probably wouldn't take if you knew the local roads. But without it we would have had a lot more arguments, so it has definitely been worth very cent.

Driving out of Heathrow during a storm was bad enough but having a "European" style car ( indicators and wipers reversed) has certainly added to the challenge at times. It is very disconcerting to have the windscreen wipers come on when you are trying to change lanes or turn the corner and even more alarming during a downpour to turn them off.

There are permanent speed and red light cameras mounted everywhere - revenue raisers perhaps? As it can be very hard to spot the speed signs beside the roads (small blue circles) and occasionally the TomTom is inaccurate I am expecting to get at least one ticket even though we seem to be the only ones trying to drive within in limits and using indicators.

Overall still an interesting and enjoyable experience. Hope we manage the left hand drive in Europe as well.

Houses have been decked out in bunting for the recent Jubilee and also the torch relay. Very colorful.

We have come across some different and unique street signs. This one made us all a bit nervous.
