Week of the Sun: Day 4

Today we had 2 sprint maps around small towns. The first was a seaside town, Vieste, that was bigger then last night but nowhere near as big as Hobart. They started us at the bottom of the hill only to send us up and around it via zig-zagging streets and lots and lots of stairs.

Instead of darkness we had the hot sun to contend with this time as it reflected back of the marble surfaces. We had a great time once again. It wasn't quite as much fun as last night but Mum came third and Dad won his race.

When we got back to camp, in case it rained, Dad decided to move us into a Bungalow for the night so the tents would be dry for a quick get away tomorrow. So we packed and cleaned for the break between then went for a swim before going to the event.

Tonight's event in Carpino was similar to last nights event but not so many tunnels and tight, small alley ways but still heaps of steps. The locals had turned out in force to watch the proceedings and once again would shout instructions and encouragements in Italian that we could not understand. The rain gave a light sprinkle for the first few starters but cleared up before long. However it was enough to make the cobblestones on the steep roads very slippery to go up and down.

We had good runs with Mum and Dad winning both of their courses and me just missing out on cracking the top three again by 20 seconds, aargh.
